My 62 just starting having a bit of trouble when I start it. When I crank it, it turns over fine and then it stumbles like it isn't getting enough fuel. I can give it some gas to get it started, then it is good to go. Once it is running, it runs great. It started acting this way pretty recently. It seems to be getting a little worse, sometimes it doesn't start on the first try. The starter seems fine, it just doesn't start the engine.

Any ideas? I've searched around, but given the fact that it runs fine the rest of the time, I couldn't find a definitive answer. I have recently replaced the wires, plugs, and distributor cap and rotor. I have a new coil, but haven't installed it or tested the spark off of it. I will try to see if there are any codes tomorrow night.

Cold start injector? How does is start when it is already warm?

Good question, let me get back to you :). Pretty much every time I drive it, it sits enough to cool off. Let me try that out. Thanks.

If original carb. you probably need to adjust it or have it adjusted.

Yeah, no carb... Any other 62ers have an opinion?

So, I wanted to resurrect the thread... It does seem to start worse when cold, so how best to diagnose if it is the cold start injector? Also, could it be a bad coil? I haven't replaced it yet. Once it is running, it runs great.

Thanks!

Check these out...

Just to be certain, there are no idle or running/power problems once it is started?

Yeah, it runs great once started. I have an FSM, just wanted to see if anyone had a quick answer :). Sounds like I need to poke around a bit. I did have a ignitor/ ignition code a while back, so I'll reset the codes and give them a check.
