Starting problem (1 Viewer)

Daughters 99 4runner had started issues in the Mountains. She said she would turn the key several times and nothing and then it would crank and start the motor.

She also said it would never happen when the engine is warm.

I know the usual, grond, loose battery cables, starter etc, but the engine warm bit has me confused. Ehat could this imply?

I am going to go with Starter Contacts based on input from Lexusben

Mine did the same thing- you're on the right track. Mine would "click" but nothing would happen. Changed the entire starter, but in retrospect, I probably could have gotten away with changing the contacts in the solenoid.
