Starting issues when hot/warm.

Starter/solenoid 'ticks' but wont crank. Keep trying and eventually it will suddenly work.

Battery new.
Cables upgraded.

I think it may be the ignition switch?
Any other insight? Or where to look first.

Thanks

Sounds like the starter contacts to me, under $20 repair.

Do a search for starter contacts and you'll find plenty of info.

I don't think so. The starter is relatively new and OEM. Not out of the question tho.

Thanks for the input. I had actually done that repair on my previous 62.

Any other avenues? (wish I had a NSS)

It sounds like a bad armature. The next time it clicks but won't engage, have someone hold the key in the crank position and smack the starter with a hammer. If it gets going, you have a bad armature. The fact that you hear the click means that your ignition switch is working as is the solenoid, that's the click you hear.
