I have a 1976 BJ-40 - live in Costa Rica need to find a starter. Can anybody tell me what the part number for this item is?It is a 24 volt and I believe the original motor.thanks

Try www.4wheelauto.com in Edmonton, Canada. I know they have refurbished 24V starters.

I don't know of any other suppliers of 24V starters. I'm sure there are a few more. Give www.sor.com a call and see if they have any used parts. They seem to have access to all sorts of vehicles from all over the World.

The other alternative is for you to find a motor / starter / alternator repair or winding shop locally / in-country. You'd be amazed at what these shops are capable of repairing, usually for much less than a new part.
 
if you read the nipondenso numbers on the side you can try searching for parts to rebuild yours. Might only need contacts/brushes and good cleaning.
