well i've exhausted most my ideas and some from other threads but the cruiser is still running rough. quick specs and detail for what i've done:
1990 fj62, new plugs/wires/cap/rotor, new fuel dampner, fuel regulator, cleaned the cold start injector, cleaned the fuel rail/injectors, and replaced the fuel filter.

Holds plenty of pressure but has a problem passing 22-2300 rpm range while moving. sitting still it runs smooth. i can make it passed the 2300rpm point but the truck likes to cruise at 2000 so when ever i need to accelerate i hit that temporary wall.

Any ideas???

Fuel filter in tank and valve cover gasket, check those. MIke

Have you checked all your vacuum lines?

Vacuum lines checked out

I'll pull the pump tomorrow and check out the filter inside the tank,
I know the valve cover gasket is leaking but I don't understand how that can hurt the vehicle (other than oil loss).

Similar in all gears? Could your exhaust be crapped out? Have you checked for codes? I wonder if the ignition timing might not be advancing with engine speed... just thoughts...

And just to be clear, you aren't saying it's stalling at 2300, you're saying it runs out of grunt? Does it run rough there, or just weak?

It hits that point in any gear, flutters rough for a while than i get a chance at a down hill or I down shift the automatic and it keeps on pushin. I was thinking that it may be the exhaust, the only thing left connected is the cat so maybe i'll chop that off and go straight pipe for a little bit... I haven't checked codes yet but i should be able sometime this week.

thanks for the ideas so far, keep em coming, i'll start putting them to the test tomorrow.
