Anyone ever stagger their wheel spacers. 1.5" rear and 1" front or other. Any benefits or negatives.

Run whatever you need to maximize clearance for large tires. Lots of folks run spacers on one axle but none on the other. Works fine. John

thnx for reply's. I was just curious. I don't think a 1/2" or so would be a hotrod look but could help clear a big tire on one end

My rig had 1" spacers all around when I bought it. It was running 315's on the OEM wheels. Clearance was good and I liked the look, kinda bulldog-ish. wide stocky stance. Did not work with the 37s, so I pulled them all off and I am very happy with it now. John

Just curious on how it would help clear bigger tires. I only just upgraded to 315 and don't see any issues with clearance so I guess you are running 37s?

inkpot, how do you like the 37's with 488's? Just picked up some 37's. Don't have to put them on but I might. I like the truck now with oem diff. gears and 315's. A little underpowered on steep hills but not bad.
BUT the 37's look sweeeeeet. The extra clearance in the trail would be great too. I just don't know about all the other cost's like diff gears and prob. chromo axles.
Couple pics of wheels and tires. 17" TR beadlocks (not sure of offset) with 37" krawler blues

If you have also been following this thread lately, it has a lot of good info about different setups to run the 37s. As ToolsRUs has shown, if you just get a bit more aggressive with the shifter, you can do really well on the road with the 37s still running the original 4.10 gears. He has done it for 5 or 6 years, IIRC. He has no problem maintaining good speed on the mountains by keeping the rpm up in the power range. Our engines are pretty happy at 4000+ rpm. He runs up the hills in 2nd gear at high rpm and holds good speed without having to mash the throttle all the way to the floor. It does work.

On the other hand, I do like my 37s over 4.88s. It is virtually the same result as stock. My speedo is within +/- 2 mph on the freeway. I ran the original Kralwers on my Piggy and loved them, but they are heavy, noisy, and made from a very soft compound, so not very good lifespan for highway miles. John
