Is there an alternative tool for this alternator pulley removal tool? If not, can any one please tell me what's the best way to take out the pulley? Getting my duck's in a row to do alternator upgrade (smaller pulley) trying to avoid any surprise.

Thanks:cheers:

I'd probably just use an impact gun first, if that didn't work, a strap wrench around the pulley to hold it still...

Whats this smaller pulley? Never heard before...Assume it ramps up the amps a bit on the output. Interesting since most people I've heard of changing go larger for less HP drain from the crank...But this sounds good for a Cruiser and not a sports car

I took mine off with my Dewalt battery-powered impact. No big deal...

I have a writeup in doing that somewhere in my build thread, too - but I just swapped pulleys with a Sequoia alternator.

Yep. An impact wrench is the easiest way. Just wrap a shop rag around the pulley and hold it with one hand, impact wrench with the other.

The inexpensive 120v corded impact wrenches will work fine if you don't have compressed air. They work good for lugnuts too. Just use a torque wrench when tightening wheel lugs.

Thanks guys, so after I take it off...what's the method for tightening it back to 80 lbs torque?
