Is it generally necessary to go with extended slip or long travel drivelines when doing a SR/SOA? I'm putting my drivelines back in and am able to use the front one in the rear without too much spline showing (just so i can get it back on the road, its been a while) and I extended the front one myself but am wondering if the stock slip is going to be enough.
Also, anybody have any good things to say about milemarker hubs? I've always ran warn hubs on previous rigs but have heard that MM's quality is ok and much cheaper. (going onto 60 outers if it makes any difference)

IMO, warn hubs are NOT that great...pick up a set of used Aisins off a minitruck and never look back...

my first SOA/SR setup required a long slip, it would use about 7" between compression and extension...

my current rendition uses a center limit strap (chain) so the front axle can only droop about 1.5" at the middle...it still uses nearly all the stroke of a 14" shock, but now both tires can't droop together, it "must" articulate. Sucks for jumping, awesome for boulders and climbs tho....

the old setup? that was about ...mmm...6 years back maybe....it's been updated WAY too many times since then...lol

from last Oct, this is with 14.3? Bilstein 5150's and the limit chain attached...during fast runs across the sand you could hear/feel the chain "catch" the front axle from extending enuf...makes for a rough ride...but on climbs it's great, and IMO it's great for breakover stuff too (helps the entire rig tip forward, versus the front axle just walking away)

Thanks! Thats some serious shock hoops you have there...

Max

MetalTech customs....they aren't significantly taller than the Ford towers, but did allow for some additional room...

shocks have 4" upstroke at ride height, 10" down.....springs are FJ55 wagon rears with one leaf removed...

nuthin fancy, just functional....

Thats a sweet setup, i would like to have some articulation like that but i was a little disapointed with mine with the floor jack method when i was measuring for my driveline lengths. Hopefully its a matter of everything seating....
Do you remember where you got the 7"+ slip joint or did you have them made somewhere? thx
