I have a '99 LX470 with 156K miles. Recently I notice a really loud "creaky" squeek when driving the front axle over a speed bump. The rear axle is quiet. Are there any maintenance items on the front end that should/could be serviced that may be the source of the squeek? I'm a little concerned it may be the front shocks...which have to be crazy expensive to replace with the AHS system. Thanks for the help.

My '00 LC had the same issue...had bushings replaced, lower ball joint replaced - nothing solved it. It was the front shocks. I don't have AHC, so it wasn't such a big investment. Just my experience.

FYI: It's the front shocks. Too expensive to replace for such a minor issue.

hmm, mine does this too. it hasn't bothered me enough to warrant a need to go looking, esp since it started after i went wheeling a few times. i was thinking it was the sway bar bushings making noise, but they looked fine and not dry or really beat up. looks like it's time for some new shocks! ......and a lift if i can swing it with the :princess:

btw, what part of the shocks makes the noise? the bushings on them or the internals?

Funny thing... I have a squeeking in my front end to...
Now that I have my TOTALLY RAD 2.5" SUSPENSION LIFT, UCA'S AND SHOCKS FROM JUST DIFFERENTIALS!!!!
I LOVE it. The squeeking is very minor, not like a Ford!!!

You should have zero squeaking with that set up...unless the squeaking is you because of joy!!!

Seriously though, if you have squeaking, then something needs lubricating. Either, the uniball or the inner bushings on the uca. Otherwise, the parts will wear out faster.

Also, make sure the uca's look right in the mount. Myself and others have experienced what on paper looks like a correct alignment. But one of the UCA's were actually rubbing the mount. This will also wear the inner bushings out fast. I had to change my passenger side inner bushings out on my tc UCA's after 9 months due to that....I probably could have gone longer. But I was already sending my Radflo shocks back for some work and replacing my lower ball joint.

Guessing:
1 - Lower ball joint
2 - Sway bar bushings - body mounts. If rubber (oem) they should not be lubed, if Poly they should be lubed. If the rubber ones are "poluted" with any lubricant, they start squeeking.

Oh, you can also get squeak from the upper shock bushing...

Thanks for the tip! ;)
I actually only get a squeak when my front end articulates a bit like going into steep driveways. On the highway, roads, around town, never hear a peep.

My Rear Radflo's made noise after they were first installed. I would stand on the rear bumper and jump up and down and hear a squeak sound. However, after my 1st off road trip that broke them in, they are now silent.

Had the same concern but I just had the OME 2.5 lift installed and sure enough it was the shocks...
