New question at the botom

I’m at the point of my build I need to build a traction bar. My question is round or square? I only want to do this ones my thought is if I go with 2”X .25” wall square tube I can order enough to do my front drive shaft too and square tube is half the price as well. But I have not seen it done that much.
Is the square tube going to hold up as good as round tube?
Any help from the Experts would help.

Thanks
Chris

The size square tube you are using will hold up, but on a geometric consideration, no other shape dissapates forces and is stronger than a circle. That is why almost everything is made out of circular tube instead of square. The bending rigidity of a tube is radius to the 4th power so even a thinner gauge metal can be stoopid strong

By weight. You cannot tell me a 2" .250 piece of tube will be stronger in bending than a 2" .250 piece of square. Pound for pound the tube is stronger, but the square wins out in ultimate strength.

Thanks for your input.
time to order.

Chris

Looking around and I can’t find square tube ends.
I found 1.25”-12 square ends but only 1.25 I think it is very over kill I was thinking 7\8
Anyone know of a source for 7/8 square tube ends?
Or can I use round ends in a square hole?

Thank you
Chris
