Spring width of FJ45s (& other FJs as well)

Does anyone know if springs from a 1979 truck would fit on a 1978 without modification?

I know that in general the early 80s trucks had wider springs than the 70s trucks (fj4x series), when did the actual switch to wider springs occur?

Does anyone know? Or is this just a dumb question....

I think late 80 (7/80) had the wider springs..but don't take that as gospel

Just read your post again. Your 79 springs will fit a 78 with no problem.
