Reserve yourself a spot, yes they have cabins, few have done it because sleeping and waking up 10 feet from the sound is much better. :D

Totally up to your comfort level (or the family's). Cabins are not too far away from the main area we've been in the past. To the experience of last year, we tried to swing by the cabins when we headed out to make sure people didn't get left, but sometime we couldn't find everyone everytime we rolled out. Then the schedule and map we provide becomes a necessity...

It'll be a long drive in the 40 to the campsite, so what do you guys recommend about me towing it close and then leaving my truck/trailer somewhere? Any spots nearby you trust, or perhaps someones home or business?

Thanks,
Jeremy

There are several campsites that will accomodate parking for a tow rig and trailer. I have towed the last 2 years and others have as well. We'll need to keep that in mind when reserving sites to make sure you get a spot that is better suited for that.

Cool, so the meet up is Friscoe Woods Wed. night or either first thing Thur, morning? Do you guys always come back to that camp, or do you camp at different locations?

Sorry to be a newb, and I am sure more details will follow, just trying to decide if I should get a cabin and for how many days.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Cool, for the sake of the economy and potentially high summer gas, I think I will drive the Taco down and bring the 27' camper. Looks like some nice spots near the sound and near the rest of the guys, plus the family will be comfortable with showers, heat/ac and shelter. I should save about $60 plus over a cabin, and the cost of gas should be better since I will be cruising all weekend in the Taco instead of the gas guzzler 40. Would love to drive the 40 on the beach, but I think it's just too long a haul to then have to carry camping supplies.

Jeremy

Just as a note, I haven't published anything since the logos are not finished. Campsites will be available Mar 15 when they re-open. Schedules is almost finalized, but the artwork is holding things up...

I am eagerly awaiting the final info. I have always wanted to cruise up and down the shore in a cruiser. This sounds like a great time.

Is there any "first dibs" on sites based on prior attendance? I really would just like to get the same site as last year and be done with it. Unfortunately, I can't remember the number :O

I think this year we were going to do it, everyone books their own site, so it would be first come first serve.

Leaving Trailers...

I think I'm the closest club member to this event. If people want to drop there trailers I have room. I'm about an hour or so from the Cedar Island ferry.

I don't think my 40 will be running by then but who knows. I will volunteer to be the firewood truck ;). Has any decision been made about dinners? If needed I can haul a pig cooker.

Can i bum a ride??

I'm going to be in RDU week of STR - fortunately/unfortunately it's for the Angels Among Us 5K (Duke's Brain Tumor research run/fundraiser) - it's on the 30th.
Angels Among Us

One of my friends formed a team Haden - so according to my wife I need to run in it!
Team Haden

Ideal world - I could come for 27, 28 and back to RDU on the 29th...
Is anyone planning on heading out for only those days? I likely won't be in my FJ...so will need to bum a ride!

And not to take away from the ride - but if anyone wants to run they are more than welcome!

info on outer banks driving....

Pulled this article from WITN.com about the outer banks driving proposal.

Three members of North Carolina's congressional delegation are concerned about a federal proposal that would prohibit vehicles from accessing about 40 percent of a popular Outer Banks seashore.
Sens. Kay Hagan and Richard Burr along with Rep. Walter Jones say an overly restrictive plan will hurt families and businesses in the area. The three have sent a letter to Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to ask the agency to maximize public access to beaches.
A final environmental impact statement released by the National Park Service in November recommends that drivers be barred from accessing 26 miles of the 67-mile Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The proposal tries to mediate a dispute between environmentalists and outdoor enthusiasts.

We are definitely planning on coming this year and I am pumped about it. Really looking forward to getting to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones. Now that things are slowing down a bit I am going to be around a whole lot more.

ahhh, i need a new 80! Being 24 and having as many bills as i have, i only have about 4 grand saved up... Hopefully ill have an 80 by this...

Alright everyone, I am going to need your help this year. We are approaching the respective dates for the spring tide ride and as with previous years of great success I would like to continue this tradition even despite current economic conditions. If you speak with anyone who has been they all mention how much fun this trip is and don't regret making the venture to our beautiful barrier islands. With Brian and his family in the midst of a new baby he has his hands full and we all need to step up and contribute to continue with making this year a success as well. I will head up whatever I need to to make sure this happens. Despite the turn out we intend on doing things very similar to what we did last year.

I am now asking those that will put forth the necessary effort to PM me and let me know how they would like to help my time is limited but I will do what I can to make this years trip a success and I need your help. Brian is willing to contribute his time as needed to help us all carry things out in regards to the specific details he had last year.

Things we need ASAP:
-Sponsorships
-Commitment from anyone planning to attend so we can plan for events and meals, and lodging
-Dates of arrival and departure

I would like to have this information no later than March 11th.

If you are the fence don't commit. I need hard numbers to present to Vendors and for lodging negotiations. I will use those figures and from there the numbers will be established. Any savings associated with larger numbers will be contributed to club funds.
