I have a bj46 which uses the same length rest springs as the 45's but with a different rate. I'm looking to get a longer spring on and comparing my options. I'm hoping to get a measure from eye to eye along the length of the rear spring. Stock measures out to 132.5cm. Lift springs that I have found so far measure only 1.5cm longer than stock and leave the shackles at a steep angle.

Ideally I'd be able to add a longer shackle to the lift spring (stock is 85mm) and still have a decent angle. If someone could give me a measure of the main spring length it would be a great help.

Are there other options for the rears?

I am not sure how get an an accurate measurement for what you are asking. The length from eye to eye changes based on load on the springs.
I know that OME come in a medium and heavy version but I think they just add extra leaves - no change in length.

Alcan spring here in CO makes custom springs and have done a lot of Land Cruiser springs

I'm looking for the measure from eye to eye along the curved surface of the main spring.

Alcan is something I'm considering but my concern is if there is a problem getting it taken care of will be a pita as I'm in Japan.

OK
I will go measure my rear OME FJ45 Rear Heavy springs and post length

Awesome- that's s big help. I measured from the eye to the ubolt on both ends of the spring the added the distance of the ubolt to those measurements. The ubolt itself was 11cm or so. The total length of the stock spring is 132.5cm.

While you at it could you measure the shackle lengths as well? My stock rear shackle is 85mm.

I've read several times that the front springs give very little lift. And the shackle angles are steep. Any comments regarding those issues as well as ride quality would be appreciated.

I plan on pulling several leaves in the rear and at least one from the front. In that case if there is not so much lift to begin with then I'll be left with with almost none by the time I pull the front leaves.

Center of eye to center of eye:
135cm
9 leaves in pack
Shackles:
13.5cm (but these are extended shackles)

Looking for the stock ones now to get a measurement

Great help there! Thanks. That would be 2.5cm longer than the stock spring. Even with the longer shackle how's the angle? How many of the leaves in the rear are overload leaves?

My front springs are 110.5 eye to eye. I wonder if the fronts are also 2.5cm longer...

rear shackle
85mm center of pin to center of pin

my understanding is that you remove the 3rd leaf to change from heavy to medium

My truck is rated for half the payload of a 45-and usually holds little more than 2 kids, tools and some recovery stuff. I'll be pulling more than one leaf for sure. I'm going for a light rate then I hope to add airbags for when the truck is loaded.

Thanks again for your help!
