Spraying POR 15, Can I spray straight from can?

Having my underbody and frame rails soda blasted this weekend. Im going to spray POR 15 but what can I cut the paint with or do I spray straight?

Also soda blasting will etch the metal, do I need to used the marine clean and acid etch from POR or is that their plow to have us buy more?

im pretty sure you can just spray straight from the can. i dont have a clue about the other stuff so i wont attempt an answer there but im sure somebody else can tell you

No. It's too thick for a spray gun. POR-15 has instructions on how to thin it for spraying.

As stated by bkg,follow the instructions on the can.Don`t forget to clean the gun "imediately".Happy spraying.

Just use Lacquer Thinner. Works great. Go with about a 4-1 mix, paint to thinner. With it thinned it will go longer and lay down oh so nice...

I used the Por15 thinner and sprayed the inside of my frame. I think that brushing worked better because you could brush it into all the body seams to seal them. the stuff flows out like glass with a foam brush.

One thing that I really recommend is wearing a really good respirator when spraying POR-15 - it has isocyanates and benzene and xylene and all sorts of stuff in it that you would not want in your lungs - it is not so much a problem with brushing on but it is when spraying on. With that warning out there, I have sprayed POR-15 several times with excellent results (wait for the driest day possible in your area). HTH.

Why do you say that, Turbo? High humidity makes it harden that much quicker.

Sorry, lost track of this thread the other day, the reason I say that is while humidity helps the POR-15 cure it also causes all those little bubbles in the finish as the solvent evaporates out of the solids content. I have had glass smooth finishes on dry days and really almost porous pumice-like finishes on humid days. Besides, in general, whether it is paint, POR, concrete, whatever it is better to cure as slowly as possible. (There are prolly things out there like UV based cures and Microwave based cures that this general rule does not apply at all but in general...). Hope that helps.

2x i went to harbor freight and got a cheep sprayer worked great

I sprayed POr-15 with my hvlp gun. Works fine with about 5% por solvent
