SILVER Star
Well I aquired my winter project over the weekend and it will be at my house this Saturday. Splib is a 1950 Chevy pickup. 216.5cu straight 6 with a whoppin 92HP and 176 FT/LBS of grunt! All original down to the tires(3 at least, one "newer" one). 3 on the tree.
The story of it
Val and I have some very good friends (Randy and Melissa) who live about 4-5 miles down the road from us. Randy bought the truck in 1971 from his friend from high school for $105.
Randy is from Oklahoma, and his family had a farm out there. The truck stayed in the garage/ barn until 2004 when the farm got sold and he had it shipped out here. His brother would drive it around the farm 2-3 times a month just to keep the gas from going bad. When he shipped it out here the dumbass driver was unloading it (Randy was not home) and hung the driver door on the trailer fender and .... well ......you know. So it has been sittin in Randy's barn till now. We had talked about fixing it and we were going to until they sold they're house which has been on the market for 14 months. They are now going to retire to the Northern Neck to they're summer home. He said he wanted me to have the truck because he didnt have a place to keep it down there and didnt want it sitting outside.
His garage is not big enough for all his stuff. So we settled on a "Family" price and its mine now.
Plans for it
Wash it
Fix the door
Clean the gas tank
Go Through the brakes
New tires
Lower just a tad
Drive it!
Oh yeah the name is something he and his buddy gave it!! They smoked alot of weed!!
Here are some pics before we pulled it outta its home for the past 8 yrs.
