Spinner ll Centrifuge or Filtakleen By-Pass oil filter

Does anyone have any experience with the Spinner ll Centrifuge or Filtakleen By-Pass oil filter?

I'm thinking of putting one of these on my 13B-T.

Once installed, Filtakleen removes all damaging wear particles down to 1-micron, which are too fine to be stopped by the main filter, and substantially reduces the corrosive acids normally formed in the engine by it’s ability in removing water by 100%.

I know Toyota used a centrifuge oil filters in the past on the some 2H motors.

Just wondering if these are as good as TP filters?

I have no experience with by pass filters.

But I always question the idea of them. First off is your engine new or rebuilt? If it already has 140k or so on it, would the life be extended ? Does dirt getting by the factory filter really shorten the life of the engine?

When we don't know how the PO treated the engine for its first 15-20 years its hard to want to extend the life with products IMOP. Others will disagree.

Also with bypass filters that use hoses and more equipment you take the chance of a failure of a hose or seal beyond the engine and actually causing damage.

But nothing keeping an eye on wouldn't solve.

Giver a try if you want. But post up some install pics please.
 
All of our trucks use the AmsOil by-pass oil filters for 30plus years with hydo hoses and blow-out valves with no problems. The only problem was on the 74FJ40 with 480,000 miles and using Dura Lube. The Dura Lube blocked one of the rod bearing oil ports and fryed a conn rod.

Here in Nevada the Big Mining Companies use the Filtakleen Filters on their 350 ton ore trucks. These trucks run 24/7. Say's something about the Filtakleen's.

Next spring the 72FJ40 with 740,000 miles will be getting a 13B-T transplant. The 13B-T will be serviced or rebuilt depending what is needed. So we're getting all the extra's together before we put her in.

Nope. I'm in Reno.
I do have a small ranch south-southwest of them in Cresent Valley area. That's about 65 miles southwest of Elko by the Cortez Mine
 
I think if the engine is fresh, do what you can to make it better.

Also you are in a hot environment for sure. So extra cleaning won't hurt.
 
centrifuges - oil cleaning

the centrifuge and cleaning should be done outside of the vehicle.

the filter is just one more safety precaution, but should not be required to clean up the fuel. I am particularly concerned with this as I use biodiesel and waste vegetable oil that we have processed.

So in cleaning up the fuel prior to going in the tank, check out this simple centrifuge.

it can clean to 1 micron, and will reliably remove water with like a gravitational force of 1000 times gravity.

We are looking to use one of these for biodiesel processing, and I can not wait to then do some experiments with it, even with regular diesel.
 
many freightliner dealers will carry the parts needed for the spinnerII's, but afaik, they carry the most parts out of the big three truck dealerships. seems like paccar didn't use them as much as freightliners.
 
I think if you fit an after market filter you need to make sure your motor does not have very low oil pressure at idle or you are going to have even less. Some 2H and 3B motors have very low oil pressure at idle so do not rely on the standard gauge.Both these motors make the oil get dirty very quick and the soot [carbon] in the oil is abrasive so if its removed so much the better, also for the fuel that gets in the oil. Toyota stopped using the filters on the Landcruiser because at the time oil/fuel was very cheap and customers complained about the extra 40 minutes service time compared to the ordinary filter. Even for DIY it's a messy job, but they are very effective and are very scarce. It is interesting to note they were still fitted to the Dyna trucks long after they were made obsolete on the 2H motor in the Cruiser.I understand the after market centrifuge filters are more efficient than the Toyota centrifuge filter.:cheers:
