G'day Guys,

I have an FZJ105 which I'm doing a full bearing and CV axle rebuild using Terrain Tamer kit. The kit also includes new spindle bearings and bushes. Is there an easier way to get them out than what's shown in this Youtube clip?

I'm thinking it shouldn't be as hard because they're only about the size of the replacement bushings and bearings that he uses. But what's the best method to remove them without damaging the spindle. I don't have a slide hammer type tool that he was using.

Thanks.

I tagged him since he may have alternative solutions to share. I've not had the pleasure of having to remove/reinstall that bearing before.

Well, on the positive side of investing in a slide hammer and bits, you could do the following more easily:

Remove eyeballs
Remove front wheel bearing races
Etc

When I replaced mine I used the same brass bar that I used in the bearing races. There is an edge on the inside of the spindle that you can hit against working around the edge to get it out.

Okay. I’ll give that a burl, my brass drift I hope is long enough. Thanks.
