Hey all,

Have some questions about my speedometer and odometer calibration. I've been driving it like this for several hundred miles and haven't worried about it too much since it doesn't affect the drivability. My speedometer (brand new) is off by quite a bit and my odometer is off by approximately half a mile (i.e. - if I drive 1.5 miles the odometer and trip gauge only read that I've gone one mile.)

I have brand new Marshall gauges. Below is the gauge I am using:

Below are the calibration instructions for the gauge:

I contacted www.jagsthatrun.com and told them what gauges I was using and what vehicle I had and they sent me what I needed, which is a vehicle speed sensor - part #2PRS-TOY.

Below is some info:

Part # 2PRS-TOY.Two-pulse for Toyota. Same as above, except for 22 mm metric threads, and .187 tang drive which fits Toyota transmissions and transfer cases.

I have the vehicle speed sensor threaded onto the transfer case where the original speedo cable would go, and the VSS is wired up correctly to the gauge.
When I was initially calibrating it I drove exactly one mile and it was below 4,000 PPR and flashed zeros on the odometer gauge which means it would not have been calibrated correctly. The odometer still worked but was off by a good amount. The speedometer worked but it wouldn't go higher than 30 mph or so. I did some distance measuring on my own and figured out it was off by approximately 0.7 miles. (i.e. - I drove 1.7 miles but it showed that I only drove 1 mile.)

I then tried calibrating it by driving a distance of 1.7 miles instead of the exact one mile like the manual says and it reached over 4,000 PPR. However, now it is still off by approximately 0.5 miles. I'm not sure what the problem could be. Jags that run says I have the correct VSS. I've called Marshall and they've said it's not the gauge. Any ideas what I should try next? I could keep doing the guess and check thing and maybe I could get it right on but I figured I'd see if anyone else has run into this problem.

Thanks!

Jake
