The PO had the speedo cable mounted with a zip tie right above the transfer case. This is where the “white thing” (my term) on the cable was mounted to. Is this correct ? I don’t want it mounted incorrectly, causing it to bend and twist in a bad way and have to replace it again. Can anykne ahare pics of how it is fastened on/around the transfer case ?

Here is my install:

I will post some pictures to help others on this common install as I think some pictures with the dash out may help others.

Sorry, I do not have any picture...BUT...and this is important:

Route the cable away from the muffler/tailpipe as much as you can. Use zip ties. Can’t tell for certain from your pic, but it appears to be way to close to the hot stuff. I also wrapped mine with some rubber heater hose in the muffler/tailpipe area for etrxa protection.
My 1st one, I did not do this and it lasted only about 3 months.

There was a little bent metal clip that was held under one of the PTO cover bolts that acted as a little brace for the cable as it traveled by the transfer case. You could easily make one , it keeps the cable steadier and prevents it from hitting the transfer case
