Mine is leaking even with the double seal. I need a new housing along with a quick sleeve. can anyone recommend where to get one?

why do you need a new housing? Are you sure its leaking from that area? It can also leak from the actual speedo drive, or past the parking brake drum splines. Also, if you t-case output is not shimmed properly it can leak no matter how many seals you install...

Lastly, make sure your t-case vent is functioning properly, so you may need to remove it to clean it out.

X to all. The truck has been even run yet.

I am going to take my old housing of my old transfer case. Going to have the inner lip machined out and double seal it. I just need a quick sleeve.

Hey cruiserbrett, you mention improper t-case output shimming can lead to leaking. I am on my second leaking seal (one with speedi-sleeve) and am looking for resolution.

I am seeing a rather long sealing surface on the output flange, and my seal is riding near the middle of this surface. How might shimming have an affect on this seal?

Hi-Jack off.

by shimming I am refering to the output shaft preload. there is a shim(or shims) between the outer race of the rear output bearing and the t-case speedo housing. these shims set the bearing preload on the output. If its loose, the shaft can move front to back some as well as radially which will ruin the seal.

Also re-oring the speedo drive sleeve thingy. there are TWO o-rings, one on the outside most everyone replaces, but the inner one is almost invisible and often gets overlooked. you'd be surprised how many leaky parking brakes are actually the speedo drive sleeve thingy...

How do you check to make sure the preload on the output shaft bearing is set correctly? Whats the process for correctly shimming it?
