Can someone send or post a photo of the cable from the transmission and up about 18", if possible? Or, explain how this bugger is supposed to mount on the bracket AND reach the speedometer.

The cable has a plastic sleeve on it that supposedly fits in a bracket mounted on the transmission in its route up to the cab. But if I put the sleeve in the bracket, I'm coming up short by a good 12" or so to reach the speedometer. The sleeve does not slide, it's glued on the cable housing.

I'm wondering if that bracket has been moved or something; I didn't look to see how the old cable was mounted, I just took it out (stupid).

This is my 2nd new speedo cable, becuase I ignored the bracket on the first one and the cable got all bound up and broken.

here's some pics from :princess:s 86'. hope this helps. where did you get the cable from?

What year and manufacture date is yours? Mine is an 88 FJ62 manufacture date Sept of 07'. I believe I am suffering from the same problem. Mine seems to need like a standard speedo cable that goes from dash to the VSS(Vehicle Speed Sensor) and then a second shorter one aprox 18" long to go to the tranfer case. The speedo I got from the dealership will not even reach from dash to transfer. It's too short. I know this isn't much help but I am still currently searching for an answer and will let you know if I come up with a viable solution.
