Hi,

Doing a conversion involving the replacement of a split case transfer from a manual 5 speed / 3F 62 series by a part-time 80 series transfer case. Does anyone know if the current split case speedo cable could be used on the 80 series transfer case?

Thanks!

what transmission are you using?

Incoming: Ford FG Falcon “Barra” I6 4L engine mated with 6 speed auto ZF6 / 6HP26 transmission. Just trying to retain the old gauges including speedo with mechanical cable.

I was curious about transmission length so I could recommend the speedo cable with the closest approximate length.

FJ62 automatic -length speedo cable should work out well for you.

Thanks for that, how about the end of the fj62 cable going into the tcase, is that the same for 80 and 60 series cases?

Yes.

That’s why I recommended the FJ62 cable.
Make sure it’s the automatic version, they’re about 8” longer then the h55f one.

I'm assuming the bit in the red circle is not part of the cable kit, looks like it may be the gear driving the cable? My 80 series tcase (not this picture) just has a hole where that part sits. What is this part called?

33404-22010 is the outer speedo gear housing for the 80 t-case. There are several tooth count gears available.

Part number for the FJ62 speedo cable that is longer. The additional length is needed because of A440F tranny is longer than a H55F.

I use this cable in both of my FJ60s that have a H55F because the extra cable length makes it easier to engage/disengage the gauge cluster.

Hi @ToyotaMatt , is this the 8” longer version that @cruisermatt recommended?

i only offer the longer FJ62 cable as well
that is only about say 42% of the reason ....

the other solid 58% reason is there a OEM Parts maker YAZAKI Japan Spec. part .....

- the matter means more to me each and every day in my little TEq worlds

Interesting update. Just removed the speedo cable from the car and turns out that it (from the manual drive train) measures 74” and is 5” longer than the new one for an automatic transmission (83170-90A20). Anyone know what’s going on here? 🤔
