I'm flushing my brake fluid. For probably the first time ever. In fact, after looking at the old fluid its amazing my brakes work at all. I see a master cylinder rebuild in my future...

More urgently, I attempted to switch my factory bleeders with speed bleeders. Great idea right? Wrong. Even when tightened them down pretty damn tight, fluid flows out through all of them like they are wide open! Anyone else have this issue?

They are clearly either defective, the wrong model, or I didn't clean the threads well enough or made some other installation error.

But, none of these are likely (these are simple to order, manufacture, and install), so I would love to hear some theories or experiences if anyone has any.
TIA

I had to tighten mine very tight also. I think the beveled surface inside the caliper gets worn to fit the original bleeder screw and then when you replace the screw it does not seal well at first. Try seating, unseating, seating the screw several times to kind of wear it in. That worked for me but a couple of them were still scary tight before they sealed completely. On my next flush a year later, no problems. Normal tight did the trick.
For everyone else who has not purchased yet, make sure you get the long ones because the shorts would be too short for the front calipers.

OP, you bought the wrong length bleeder. They are too short.
yeah, I think you're right. Will exchange, just did it the 2 person way.

Not relevant to speed bleeders per se, but the motive bleeder works really well if you dont have someone to give you a hand (or foot in this case). I've used it on many different cars. The Toyota m/c has a press on cap, due to which the adapter is not quite as elegant as it is for some other vehicles, but it takes literally only 1/2 hour to bleed the brakes by one person.

What is the correct PN of Bleeders to use since I don't see anything listed for 98-2007? My guess in the below will work.

74-97 Landcruiser 639560 - 639560
2008 Landcruiser 639560 639560 -

No need for speed bleeders up front at least. With the booster working, you just jam the brake pedal pushed in and bleed as much as you like. An endless supply of fluid. At the rear I manage with the one way valve bleeders, and then on the last stroke, first close the bleeder, jam the pedal with full pressure and crack the bleeder open for half a sec.
