Special chargers for reviving sulfated batteries? Any good?

anybody has first hand experience with the chargers that are supposed to desulfate clogged up batteries?

do they actually work?

if so, could one improvise something similar by flipping between fast (15+) and slow (13+V) charge modes on a big regular charger?

I gave up on the trickle charges and went to this style of pulse charger.

It is suppose to desulfate the plates in the batteries as well as charge the Gell type batteries.

Out of the 12 batteries I have used it on all but three came back to life. The three that did not were just old bad batteries.

I bought mine from The Sharpening Shop in Turlock, CA.

OK, thanks.
So that's one that's working then.
(these were batteries that would not hold a charge after you did use a regular trickle or fast charger, right?)

I did get the impression that it may not be too difficult to build oneself a pulser, though. Will look into that a bit too if time permits.

I have an old optima yellow top that wouldn't take a charge and it brought it back. I don't know how bad it was though.

Many of the places that sell "refurbished" batteries simply use these type of rechargers. I don't know if they work as well on the AGM batteries though.
