Speaker size and depth. Need HELP!

A little searching will definately help...
As a data point, I installed Infinity 5.25" components with no problem. If you're interested, I'll try to post some pics tomorrow - I've got a pretty innovative tweeter install (even if I do say so myself

I (paid someone to install) have some 6.5 inch Focal woofers in my doors.
The problem is not the speaker diameter, but the depth that comes with a large woofer. The window track leaves very little room for a deep speaker.
You can mount just about anything if you put a big enough spacer on the speaker mount--but this looks really crappy.
They guy who installed mine put a small spacer (about .5 inch) BETWEEN the actual door and the door panel, effectively making the door panel stick out a little. You absolutely can't tell at all. With another small spacer on the outside of the interior panel (color matched with the vinyl, of course) the 6.5 inchers fit nicely and sound even better.
I'll see if I can get some pics up.

I'm interested. I may go compenent myself as the Eclipse SE8253s and SE8243s seem to be totally NLA.

Get this! I just installed Eclipse SE8353's. These are 5.25" diameter speakers. BUT the important thing to know about them is that the mounting depth is only 1-7/8". This is very good! Use the grill frame the speakers come with as a spacer-there was a thread on this previous. Good fit and the sound quality is excellent.
I should have put in the Eclipse SE8365. They are 6.5"' with the same shallow 1-7/8" mounting depth... maybe later.

I like my Eclipse's. Got them on Ebay. There are several postings on how to mount them. One of the postings calls for cutting a bit of the speaker frame the other does not. I found I did not need to cut anything and the screws that came with the speakers fit exactly where the OEMs were mounted. In short, everything worked great.
I assume rears are 6.5 and the fronts are 5.25

The 6.5's will fit. Mounting depth will be perfect. Just got to be a little bit creative when mounting, but it should be all good.

Don't think so. My 91' has 6.5's in the rear and 4'' up front. And I think the backs stayed the same throughout the years, but I could be wrong.
