Below I will show the speakers I used and how I installed them. I wanted to use the factory door card grills to keep the stock look while getting a better sound than the speakers that were in the rig. I bought these speakers from Amazon for 50$. I stuck to the 5.25" speakers as I don't want to have to deal with all the modifications that come with a much larger speaker.

The speakers I ordered were a bit too deep to install flush to the door as the window will hit them. The solution I used was to create a 3/8" wood "gasket" that the speaker can sit on so the window will just clear the back of the speaker. My speakers came with a stencil which was nice but due to the irregularities in the door, I had to trim the wood up as shown in another one of my pics. The PO already drilled 4 screw holes on the door but if yours aren't done like this, using the stencile, drill your holes and use a self tapping sheet metal screw to tap and secure the wood, and speaker to the door. Mine are seccured like this and ive had no issues what so ever... The sound produced out of these speakers is much much better than what was in there, much more bass too.
**Some may not want to make a full round gasket like these below and would rather use some washers or spacers behind the 4 screws that hold in the speaker HOWEVER I tried this and the sound quality (especially the bass) was terrible as there is no amplification when your speakers have large air leaks and arent flush mounted to a larger surface.**
As you can see in the very bottom image, the window just cleared the speaker by a couple of millimeters, and there is no bulge in the doorcard, so it looked great to me :) I'm glad I made a full gasket for the speakers as my sound quality is much better now.
