Anyone fit a 33 tire in the spare area under the car where the stock one is?

I wasn't able to find any past threads about this, I'd imagine there would be.

Pkp80,
I do not have my tire under the spare location due to it being 315. But I have read in previous post that 285/295 or 305 tires would fit under the spare location. I recall Brentbba had purchased some tires and was able to fit them. One thing you could do is the spare tire mod. You could find that under the FAQ section I believe.

Yes, in both 285/75R16 and 305/70R16 varieties.

A factor worth considering MIGHT be the type of hitch you have if any. When I borrow a friends 2" reciever I have to relocate my spare (285) if I want to put a drawbar into the reciever. Yur mileage and your hitch may vary...Rob M concord, MA '94 80

There's a few draw bars out there that aren't as deep so you don't have to mess with moving the spare tire. You could also cut it shorter, the part that sticks out the back of the receiver doesn't do anything other than take up space needed for the larger spare.

many many other threads on this
My 285s fit with at least 1" to spare with a DrawTite receiver.

295-75/16 Nitto Terra Grapplers fit fine with a DrawTite receiver. It hangs down too far for me, already bounced it off a couple of rocks, so it rides in the back for the trail.

PKP80 where are in Costa Mesa? I am near the corner of Santa Isabel and Elden.

Newps,
I'm currently at my parents house in Los Angeles, but I live in the Fraternity House on Newport and Santa Isabel, behind the dry cleaners (Rogersfj40 and 70chevfred live there too). I should be back in Costa Mesa as of Jan. 3rd. I'll let you know and both the 80's and 40's can grab some lunch or something (The 2 others have 40's I don't know what they were thinking).

Nice to meet you Sam, my name is Tare. Let me know when you are back at the house and I will swing by. I know right where you are, (I can here your parties from my house).

yes 33's fit(on a 60-100 series), to gain clearence you can raise the spare tire cross member(on the 80) up a bit to help keep the tire from hanging down as much.
