I'm trying to find a storage device to mount where the spare tire used to go under the ass of my LC 100.

I've seen a storage compartment that mounted to the spare tire support under the car and cranked down just like the spare, but can't remember where I saw it and I can't find it anywhere online.

I've searched this site and couldn't find anything, so I'm sorry if this is an old question.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dwon

Was it this? Here's the thread. It won't be cheap, I'm sure. For a custom set-up, check out Haffi's trunk mod.

I believe HOSER is the MASTER SEARCH ENGINE on this forum. If I can't find something I think I will forgot about starting a thread and just PM the MASTER for an answer ;)

Haha, well the storage box was easy to find because I was the one who first posted it 2 years ago!

Although that may have given you a head start this time, you regularly answer questions with "Was it THIS thread" etc!

Haha, sure, I'll be your personal 100 series search engine.

That's not what I was thinking of. Although it's pretty cool, especially the link to the guy who cut a hole big enough to put in a hot tub in the back of his LC.

What I saw was a fairly inexpensive storage box with a hole in the middle of it that the factory spare wheel cable runs through so the compartment can be raised or lowered using the spare wheel crank. It didn't look like it would hold up to a lot of abuse, but for storing recovery gear etc, it would be great.

Any ideas?

By the way, thanks for the quick replies.

Sorry but I don't think that is a great location for your recovery gear. When you need to use it, chances are that you're stuck in mud or water, or hung on your sliders, or some other situation where you cannot access the box.
Otherwise, the concept is interesting.

Good point! I would have figured that out on my own the first time my rigs stuck in a ditch. I was thinking of the recovery gear to help someone else out. Newbie mindset. Thanks!!!

It would still be a nice place to store crap that I don't need in an emergency.

How about making one yourself?

take a spare-tire "hard-cover" from a Toyota Rav4.
Cut a hole in the center, and another "lug hole" next to it.
Hook it up to tthe cable and crank it up.

Nice (unused) location but anything you put down there will be very, very dirty (and likely also wet/moist in some parts of the country). Might not matter but just a thing to have in mind.
