Spare Tire Removal

Hi everyone -

Wondering if anyone is able to tell me exactly what’s going with the mechanism that lowers the spare tire. For an ‘04 lx470. This is the view through the rear bumper. I was under the impression that a key was needed, but this doesn’t look like a key fits into it. Any idea what I would need to insert into here to get it to turn?

Ok thanks. I didn’t get any of the spare tire tools when I bought the truck so trying to determine which part to buy. Guessing it’s the part that has a hooked end haha

Id recommend soaking that whole area down with PB Blaster before you try to lower the tire

From your picture, there's no lock in the view. Just need the regular spare tire rod and hook.
