Really dumb question:
Should the spare be mounted with the face of the rim aimed upward, or down toward the ground?

Mine was facing upward when I got it. But I was wondering if I could make it face downward so I can access the valve stem and check pressure without lowering it. No idea if I can or should do that. My spare may have a veeeeery slow leak, and I don’t feel like replacing it.

Scratch the hell out of the wheel face if you place it down.

I should lower, check and grease (the winch of) mine, thanks for the reminder!

Do you have a good way to grease it? I sprayed some thin oil up inside mine, but it’s still not great. Would be awesome if there’s a place to get real grease into it.

Nah, I just lower it & spray some spray-grease in there & grease the cable as much as I can. Probably not ideal, but better than nothing.

I usually hyper inflate my spare tire to 10 psi over standard pressure. Easier to deflate than to inflate after swapping a flat tire.

Always wondered about the upside down orientation w/r to storage.

Lots of room for rairily used but necessary "stuff". Like snow chains or...

If had the right tank shape...even water.

I’d be afraid that it would collect a lot of dirt/mud if it was upside down
