I wanted to add this post for awareness, the Southern Four Wheel Drive Association is a very large group dedicated to promoting safe 4 wheeling in the South. From VA to Fla to TN, membership is only $10 per year so not a deal breaker, and they do have quite a few events through the year. The big one for Uwharrie is this weekend, sold out a while ago.
Posting because our members should know this group has a lot of influence lobbying to keep trails open and promote new trails all over our area. They work with government to have influential people maintain parity with those who don't want us driving off road. They also donate via grants a lot of the equipment and consumables the Forest services uses in Uwharrie, they do things like donate and update buildings, erect flagpoles, etc. You may be using facilities they donated and not even know it. They paid for the development of the CartoTrack maps for the Uwharrie region too, pretty detail maps with all trails in there, including the ones on private spots. Up north they developed the Daniel Boone Loop Trail, the Kentucky Adventure Trail, and working on others.
I joined just because they spend real money supporting what I like to do on weekends. There are always Toyotas there, as well as every other 4WD maker, so lots of interesting builds. I will post their events here when they come up, you never know, you may want to try one of these.
