Hey guys,
Newbie here to the site and new owner of a mustard yellow 77 FJ40. I was wondering if anyone knows some top knotch FJ restoration outfits in and around the Southeast U.S. I live in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and would be prepared to go as far as west Texas or eastern Georgia and north as far as upper Tennessee. I saw on a post about 2 years old that a Chris Wade out of the Atlanta area does great work, I would love his contact info if anyone has it. Also, if there is anyone else in my area that does really good work i would greatly appreciate their name and/or contact info.
My FJ came out of eastern Washington and is about 99% rust free and in overall supurb shape, but I'd like to do a frame-off resto on it sometime soon, as well as some mods like a/c and p/s.

Thanks,
Jeff

Info requested

I think this is the info for Wadesters (Chris Wade):

Phone: 770-719-2153
email: Wadesters@Peoplepc.com

Just curious, if it's "99% rust free and in overall superb shape" why frame-off resto some time soon?

I say drive the hell out of that thing and save up for the resto for when it needs it.

Just my $0.02.

Good luck and let's see some pics!

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated and jfrench I may indeed drive it to the doors fall off, but I wanted to check into the restoring route to get an idea of the cost$$$, turn around time, etc. I'll post a couple pics (most of the pics make the paint job look better than it actually is) with this post. I definitely want to do a few things that include: fixing the butt sag in the rear(not mine), go back with some original style wheels and some 33x10.50x15 Swampers of BFG MT's, new paint job and fix a couple minor spots on body, some new upholstery, install a factory type a/c, tighten up the steering, etc., mostly minor cosmetic stuff. Also, does anyone know a mod to get more leg room on the driver's side? I'm 6'1" about 285lbs and I found the leg room a little on the cramped side. I read somewhere about a guy raising the seat 2" as well as moving it back some.

Its looks like a good truck but for me everytime I see checkerplate (I believe you guys call it diamondplate) on a 40 9.9/10 its used to cover up rust. I'd want to know whats hiding underneath that checkerplate.

The sheetmetal is rust free on the backside of the body behind those diamond plate panels, thats not to say there isn't any surface rust under them, but none severe enough to penetrate through to the inside of the body. I'm not a fan of the diamond plate either and plan to remove them when I repaint the body in the future, I much prefer have the classic '4 Wheel Drive' and Toyota badges on the back.
