My HAMOM in Sept.

UPDATED 7-19

My plan is to have the body work done, the truck painted, all the parts and pieces cleaned before the HAMOM. I have a media balster cabinet now and have been working on cleaning up and painting all the metal pieces. But I really need to get to work if I am going to make this.

So the list of things to do now looks like this:

*Remove Webber carb and install clean and tweaked aisan carb (the carb is with Jim C for a rebuild right now, should be done and back mid-August)

*Reinstall linkage (which I think Alan has...Can someone bring it to OTMT for me so I can get it cleaned up and ready to go?)

*Disconnect electric fuel pump and install OEM fuel pump (ordred, received and in the basement)

*Reinstall air filter assembly (I have the stock one and it's in the basement, clean and ready to go)

*Reinstall heaters after clean and rebuild (I have all the stuff to rebuild them, so I gotta do that)

*Change blower motor and resistor thingy under the hood (I have the new/used one)

*Install new shocks and springs and shackles and break hoses and castor shims and steering stabilizer (Alcans on order, all other stuff should be here this week)

*Put remainder of stuff back together on the truck (lights, doors, weather stripping, etc.). This one is not critical, but it's something that people can do while other things are going on.

*Track down electrical gremlin and kill it

*Have someone teach me how to adjust the drum brakes

Now, the important parts...I will have a keg. And a grill. And a place to sleep for everyone that drives here to help me.

I was looking at the calandar and wanted to float 2 dates for the HAMOM. Sept 15 or Sept 22. September is a busy month...Beasley Bash the 7-9th, Annual Event the 29-30. So it's hard to squeeze a HAMOM in there too, but those are the only weekends available.

Let me know which one y'all like better and you think it might be doable at this point.

Thanks!!!

Those sound like some big plans Heather I hope we can get even 1/2 that done, to many cooks in the kitchen as they say. In reference to your oil filter its in the right spot they probably just bolted it on wrong unless your pig is like 10/73 or later then its really a 74 I guess. You could always cheat like me and just drill a couple new holes on the inside of the fender and bolt it there. As for your parts I'm sure you can get a few of them from within the club. After that you just need to check all the usual places for the best price. Everything you listed is common and we'll be at all the cruiser parts places.

Gaskets for between tranny and transfer.
I have a used clutch fork from my 60 don't know if it will work but you can have it, I'll dig and see if I have any gaskets and alignment tool...if you know the diameter of the pilot bearing I can make you a dowl to use the greese press trick for removing the old one.

Yeah, probably too big. But I need help figuring all this stuff out anyway, so I figured I'd take advantage of the amazing talent here while I can (yes, I am sucking up) and get all the advice I can!

Really, the only thing I need to get done is the tranny swap and the new springs. All else can wait. But I want to have everything so someone with more knowledge than me can look through what I have and tell me if it's crap or good and if I need other stuff.

Yeah, so...I have been researching this whole 4spd swap thing, and I am thinking that I am going to have to just wait on it. After figuring out how much it's going to cost by the time I get all the parts, fix up the transmission, cut and move driveshafts, blah blah blah...I think I am going to wait until I can swap out the whole system for a different system.

That being said, I am modifying my first post with things we can do at the HAMOM.

Updated with new list of things to do and status of parts and what not. Also, please see the proposed dates and see which one might work best for folks. I really want this thing to be ready for the pig run...and this HAMOM is the only way I think it will make it.

Thanks y'all!!!

I'll do whatever, whenever. Yur my sis and I kind of gave you the cruiser bug, I feel responsible.

Maybe next week...I need to start tearing into the t-case and such ASAP so I can get it done before OTMT.
