Hey all,

I'm looking for a source for the Joint Fuji TRE. Liquid Off Road is out of stock and can not guarantee when or if they'll get them, and CruiserParts.net will not get them in until August 25th - I need 'em before then..

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appriciated!
Thanks!

JTO carries them, you could call. I got a set from them. My only complaint is that they do no have grease zerks. The Three Five brand does. Also the rubber boots on the Joint Fuji ones were shot in 9 months, so you might consider those poly boots from SOR. I'm thinking a set of Three Five (555) TRE's with the poly boots, would be the hot ticket.

ddd, the Fuji Joint TRE"s I have on my fj40 have zerts?

I ordered mine from CCOT. They made a mistake and shiped the order 2 times. I got one of each brand from them, so they must carry both. Both had zerks in the box.

the Fuji's I picked up from CruiserParts shipped with zerks....you will want these on whatever brand you choose

If there's a small (like 3/16") hole in the housing behind the ballstud, a zerk will fit, even if it
didn't come with one. Most zerks are self-tapping, so go to a good hardware store or parts
store and get a box of em.
I do not trust "lubed for life" or sealed components on my Cruiser. If it had a zerk from the
factory, the replacement/upgrade will also have a zerk.

Fuji, 555 TRE - what's the deal?

Thanks for the heads up! I actually returned a set of Three Five (555) TRE to Specter this week after reading negative reviews on them. I also found the Three Five TRE kit @ another dealer for 1/2 the price, and they are guaranteed to be the higher quality Japanese version.

Others have complained that the Three Five boots wear out in 6 months. Now you're telling me the Joint Fuji's wore out in 9 months?! The factory boots on my '89 with 180,000 and lot's of wheelin' are still in great shape - so I can't believe that these new boots are such cr@p! Well, I can, it 's just a shame. Poly boots from SOR it is then! And the yellow will match the OME components :-)

Strange that the Joint Fuji had no zerks! Are they ported for zerks? Not having a zerk on this component seems stupid. Anyone else have this?

Thanks all

I don't know about why my Joint Fuji ends did not have zerks. There were not even holes or places to pound in a non-threaded zerk. I also just bought a 555 set from Mudrak. These are made in Japan, and have threaded holes for zerks with little bolts in them, plus the serks are included. I'll install those when I get to it. Mudrak says all the rubber boots are junk these days-certainly the ones on my Joint Fuji TREs were. If my 555 boots fail, I'll go to the SOR boots and cross my fingers.

seeing how after my 60 got hit today I need new TRE and stuff, called Spector and had the guy pull them off the shelf to check.......they are Fuji Joint. $130 for all. If I order them monday I will have Marv confirm they are Fuji.

now someone is saying SOR has 555? and no zerts?

heck maybe I'll bite the bullet and get OEM, $280 for the tie rod wtih ends, $80 for the relay rod end.......twice the price but?

oddly my orignal OEM ends don't all have zerts, forget which do and which don't but not all do.

Land Pimp-I'm with you. The OEM stuff just does not have issues. It is twice as much, but then you can forget about the install for another 20 years. Last November a friend and I installed new TRE's on both of our 60's in my driveway side by side. He used 555's, I used the Joint Fuji's. The rubber completely rotted and cracked on mine on 2 TRE's. His have zerks, mine do not. I'm going to install my 555's with zerks and see if I get better performance. Mudrak said the 555's from Japan are good. If not, I'm going OEM.

Things don't rust here-seriously. I'll hit them with some Rustoleum though, just to be sure.

Rain water just rusted mine. Even I THINK (?)pimp said his rusted after the first rain.

I JUST bought a set from Specter two weeks ago. The were the 555 in the orange box - $136. After researching this forum, I sent them back (all through my mechanic buddy). Now SOR says they have Joint Fuji??? For less even??? I don't get it.

no the price was the same, I just rounded. But YEP I asked the guy what brand, he said he didn't know but would go look, he came back and said Fuji.

and yes my 555 on the 45 rusted and boots tore, Fuji on the 40 no rusted and boots not torn.

Thanks Landpimp! Marv's been @ Specter for at least 10 years I'd say, so if he says they're Fuji, I guess they're Fuji.

And tahnks for the verification that the Fujis have not rusted / torn.

Beautiful, clean engine bay, by the way!

I misspoke when I originally replied to this thread. The Joint Fuji stuuf does have zerks on the drag link ends. The Tie Rod Ends DO NOT have zerks or provisions for adding zerks. The 555 ends do have zerks on all of the ends. If you go with the Joint Fuji ends, make sure you manually grease the tie rod ens prior to install. The rubber is crap though, Maybe you could buy just the OEM rubber boots or the poly ones SOR sells. The original boots on the ends lasted 20 years and 190k, just like the heater hoses.

Marv is not the one who checked for me, just a sales guy.

and Andrew, the stock OEM TRE's have no zerts, just the drag links. I'll double check, but mine on both the 60/2 are still origininal.
