Solved - Help needed - Won't Rev Past 2200RPM

This morning I cleaned under the hood including a good rinse although I took care not to get much water near electrics. I let her dry in the sun for 6hours before starting her. She started first time with no misfires although I never went for a drive as my next job of the day was new spark plugs. I just finished those and again she started with no misfires. This time I took her for a run but when the revs get to 2200rpm she cuts out and all power is lost. I got her home and can replicate the fault on my drive. Revs lovely to 2200rom then shuts of. I have checked for any residual damp but can't find a cause. Any ideas?

Try disconnect and reconnect your maf if you have a 95-97 version. Or try disconnect your battery for 10 minutes.

Check the TPS connector for moisture.

O disconnected the battery then popped out for dinner. Reconnected when I came back but now the alarm is going off and I can't figure out how to turn it off. I don't have a working remote and locking /unlocking the car with the key hasn't made any difference. Toyota hand book doesn't even mention security system. Any body got any ideas?

OK - Success. Thanks Qball and Tools R Us. I did both - battery and TPS connector. Sprayed the latter will contact cleaner. Not sure which worked but she now revs through the full range without a hiccup.
The new problem I have is an alarm that I didn't even know was fitted. I found a tiny silver switch down the inside of the drivers footwell. From the look of it I don't think it is a factory installation. Need to figure this out a bit more next weekend.
