Great trip and great write-up!

The fuel pump relay issue... Only happens when 'hot' and takes 20+ minutes to cool down enough to restart?

I've been having a similar issue and had been thinking that it was some sort of vapor lock from my supercharger sitting over the top of the exhaust manifold. Changing out the fuel pump relay sounds like a quick thing to eliminate before diving into coating manifolds and wrapping the Y pipe.

First MUD vendor to reply with a part number and that has a genuine Toyota fuel pump relay in stock for a '96 FZJ80 at something less than Toyota's list price gets a sale.

Nice trip! I haven't used AC in years and made it through Texas summers no problem.

Correct, I think it's worth having a spare in the truck at all times regardless.

Specifically the truck would start, go to 200-300rpms and then stutter out and die. Then it would turn over, sometimes igniting to 50-75rpm and then dying. After a few tries it will just crank and crank.

The relays fail pretty often. I got a genuine Toyota part from the dealer in LA for $100, you can grab a Denso for $55 or so I believe.
