Don't know if this is tech or not, but has anyone compiled/created a solid model of an 80-series cruiser? I am looking to build a bumper and wanted to model it up in Solidworks. I can work with almost any format..natives (SWorks, inventor, Pro/e Wildfire), IGES, SAT..etc. I can get the dimensions of the frame horns out of the FSM and/or measure them, but wanted something to show how different designs would look on the truck.

Thanks,

David,
I asked about this a year or two ago without much response. I did a basic assembly with frame rails and body contours at the time and drew up a few bumpers. Unfortunatly I know they were all wiped off my harddrive when my computer crashed a 6 months ago. I've looked for a backup but can't find it. Keep us posted if you find anything out there.

Thanks...I did see your post and emailed gumby about any models he may have in Inventor. I guess I can model up the frame rails and fudge the front and rear portions.

Speaking of Solid models, is there an affordable personal software that won't take a college education to figure out? I use AutoCAD but don't feel like learning the 3D part of it...too lazy!

Alia,
Solid modeling has gotten really easy to learn. A person can learn to model parts in AutoDesk Inventor or Solidworks in a couple of hours. The hard part is learning how to do things efficiently...that takes time to develop. Check this link for Solidworks 30 day free trial...it also includes a free intro class at one of their resellers.
