i know the runner was intro'd in 84, so when the hilux went IFS in 86, did the runner do it too? this would mean only 84 and 85 for a solid front axle in the runner right?

Yes, 85 was the last year for the solid axle. First year for EFI.

'86-'89 were IFS, most(all?) fuel injected, still first gen. I would rather have fuel injection and do an SAS. I sold my 86 xtra cab to buy a 2nd gen runner - four doors, easier for kids.

i would go with the FI and SAS it, but i'm planning on gutting it and going 383 (stroker), 465, np205.

If you go with the IFS you already have the correct steering box for Hysteer
