Did an over-nighter at Soldier Meadows, Hot Springs we soooo...nice...especially after that 60 mile ride on Soldier meadows road, brutal and did a number on my trailer. The camp ground was empty say for the host whom lives in a yurt/tent for 6 months of the year...alone.

The weather would have made an Irishman homesick and we only saw one other car -A Land Cruiser, looked like a 100 series from a distance. Went up to Summit lake which was a mud fest most of the road up.

The camp sight we had would support a large contingent and perhaps the club could plan a trip up there in the future. :hhmm:

Nice...
Never have been out there, but have heard about it and would like to go sometime.

Great place to visit with a lot of history surrounding the immigrant trail. Plan on 4hr drive from Reno, if the playa is dry you can skip Soldier Meadows road and save time, patience and your rig from damage. Plus it's fun driving with your eyes closed for miles.

That would be me. Stayed there Friday and Saturday nights. The only other LC I saw was the beige 60 that the owner flies in to drive to shoot a few birds now and then. Somehow missed you!

Thought that might be your rig saw you heading toward the ranch from Fly Canyon area. Get any birds? With all the rain figured they all scattered.

Its a great year for the birds! This should, along with cooperative weather next spring, bode well for flock rebuilding! Yes the birds, everywhere, are scattered. There's a million salad bars out there right now ;).

I took a friend of mine, who happens to also be my dentist, hunting this weekend and I didn't get to cover the amount of terrain I normally would. So I was just one-for-one. Its fun when I have a bag full and equally fun when I don't. As you know there's no other place in the lower 48 like our Nevada!

In the past we have done a High Rock Canyon run, a couple of times we camped at Soldier Meadows Hot Springs.

I'd do it again next spring.

Did Spresso send me an email from there using his Ipod and if so, how?
