This weekend I went to start up the Cruiser and nothing, she had sat too long. But put my $9 trickle charger on it for a few hours and she was back. Anyway, I just don't drive her enough these days and I want to keep the battery from dying. Started looking at some sun-force 15w and 5 w devices on Amazon but wanted to know what if anything you guys have.

Mark,

I have the same issue - BOTH my batteries are dead after the truck sits for 2 weeks. I was thinking about a battery kill switch - there are lots of options out there.

I had an elderly lady neighbor that wasn't full time at her beach condo - her husband died and she came over to ask if I could help get her minivan started. She had this device - http://www.latemodelrestoration.com...gle-shopping&gclid=CM3-ntrv-LgCFQxyQgodzjgA6g

If you go with the trickle - should you be worried about overcharging the battery? Overcharging can be catastrophic. See the link - http://www.ehow.com/how-does_5137116_happens-overcharge-car-battery.html?ref=Track2&utm_source=ask

Let me know how you tackle this....

Mike

Get a plug-in "Battery Tender" brand charger. I have a couple of their waterproof .8 amp chargers and it works great. I use it on the cruiser as well as connected to a gas golf cart's battery for months at a time. No issues at all. I would not trust other chargers but i trust this brand 100%.

Interesting. My truck sat for over 3 weeks in the driveway right after surgery. Wife didn't drive it at all. Once off pain killers and I could drive, the truck got a well deserved drive and started up as usual. Dual battery set up.

I really don't want to have to deal with a cord in my driveway and through a window into my house. It's fine for a day but then I have to remember to plug it in a day before I want to drive.
And a kill switch means I need to reprogram my stereo settings and clock, kind of annoying.

Good point. "Battery Tender" also makes a solar charger....Might give that a try.

Looks nice, but only 270mA so I doubt it will charge a battery, only maintain a full charge.

I have the 5A tender and really like it. Designed to optimally charge AGM batteries, which not all chargers do from what I understand.

Do you have a parasitic draw somewhere? Healthy batteries shouldn't go flat in a couple weeks. I have gone 3-4 weeks between starts a few times now with no problems.

Well I bought the 5w model along with a 12' extension cord so I can connect it through the firewall. I also got a cigarette lighter plug for when I add my constant powered lighter plug for real simple connection without even popping the hood.
Anyway the panel just fits up in the sunroof with the shade closing to hold it in place. I was able to unscrew and rotate the LED panel so I could see the status while up in the sunroof.

Looks great, and it fits up in the sunroof really nice. Let us know how it works out.
