Hi All,

I'm flirting with the idea of selling her. For the right price, I'll move on it. Here are some details:

Summary
My wife and I quit our jobs, sold everything, built this bad ass rig and drove from Huntington Beach, CA to Ushuaia, Argentina. 20k some miles. She has some body damage from the trip, but mechanically runs great. We camped on top in a RTT (still available if interested). I have a new fitted carpet for the interior that I have yet to install.

(The above pic was taken at the end of the world, Ushuaia. The red-top barrel just held extra canvas for the tent on top. It's been removed now and is just a ladder again).
  • Odometer reads 250k.
  • Re-manufactured engine was installed at 230k miles. So, really only 20k on the installed engine.
  • Had the transmission re-tooled at the same time as the engine swap.
  • ARB front bumper (ARB1021) with Smittybilt 10k winch
  • Slee rear bumper (dual swing out, tire carrier and ladder)
  • Great shape BFG's w/spare.
  • Old man emu lift kit (2.5" Heavy Load Kit from Slee).
    • 2 x SOF2RH Rear Coil Springs
    • 2 x Old Man Emu 60000 Shocks
    • 2 x Old Man Emu 60002 Shocks
    • 2 x Old Man Emu Torsion Bars
    • 1 x Slee Diff Drop Kit
  • Auxiliary rear fuel tank (+42 gallons) with pump switch up front.
  • 4WD lights on top (Halo configuration for full 360 illumination).
  • Dual battery setup with ignition selector switch.
  • Battery inverter with 120v outlets in rear and front with on/off switches.
  • Solar panels on top.
  • Large ARB side awning w/ room attachment.
  • Large guage electrical ran from front to rear to accommodate electrical installs in the back.
  • Front seat fitted covers, window rain guards and driver/passenger floor mats.
  • Large whip antennae installed on rear passenger side with handheld CB up in front.
  • New, large exhaust installed with new catalytic converters (installed roughly 3 months ago).
  • New fuel pump installed about a year ago.
  • Religious oil changes with filters and premium fuel used
  • Full steel under carriage armor (not installed now, but available)
I have all of the seats, however they are not installed at this time. I'm going to be installing the new carpet and the second row of seats soon.

I'm curious about what she would be worth because she's not that pretty to look at anymore, but she's definitely adventure ready.

Full disclaimer
We got stuck in the Bolivian salt flats- however, we sprayed a thick protective undercoat on before going and did multiple deep undercarriage cleans afterwards. The brakes/tires got the worst of it and the under armor saved everything else. It's been about a year and I haven't seen anything else pop up regarding salt.

p.s. Great community here and I used this resource more than anything else when planning to outfit our rig for the trip. Thanks again h8ers! ;)

Personally, I would keep the vehicle. If I had to sell it I'd do pricing this way.

Shop comps on 98 cruisers with your mileage.

Base price.
-1k for body damage.
-1k for the motor swap.
+500 back if the work was well documented and low miles swap.
+500 for new fuel pump and oil changes.
+/- 500 for detailed service records
+/- 1k for up to date maintenance.
-500 for the salt flats story
+ Total of aftermarket accessories @ 30-40%

The final price would never be worth the sentimental + sale value of a vehicle that I drove to Argentina. My $ .02
