There is an electrical short in the 15a Cigar circuit resulting in no power to the center cigarette lighter and the LCD displays on the environmental panel, no clock or outside temp. All the controls work. Power mirrors not working. The aftermarket alarm with remote start and key fob system has been removed and not replaced. So, no remote lock/unlock. Slight body damage above driver door and on right rear fender and trim. Third brake light broken. According to second owner the timing belt was done at 113,000 miles. Starter has been replaced.

I just ran the Carfax and discovered a couple of surprises. In 2015 the car was “severely” damaged in a collision while owned by the original party. This is a head scratcher…. There is no subsequent record of repairs in the otherwise comprehensive service records under the first owner. The car has given me no indication of this event, the body and frame appear perfect and the car drives straight.

The second surprise: when I bought the car from the second owner he apparently failed to disclose the odometer reading, so it is flagged in the Carfax report as inaccurate. My title reads zero for the mileage. I know this is another potential red flag, but I have no reason to suspect the indicated mileage. The condition of the front seats is as good an indicator as any.

I am selling this car due to an impending move from the country to the city and other lifestyle changes. Despite the issues indicated above, and it’s age, this LX is a great overlanding rig. A joy to drive on the highway and very capable off road which is how I have used it. It’s a sweet rig.

What does it need? Even though I’ve been living with the missing displays and key fobs it would be nice to get those fixed as well as a new brake light. I don’t know when the wheel bearings were last serviced. I would schedule a timing belt and water pump and replace the radiator based on its age. Tires in the foreseeable future.

Before pulling the Carfax I valued the car at $20,000 to 25,000. Given its flagged history I’m open to reasonable offers from anyone willing to look and drive it to determine what it is worth to them. I would entertain paying for a bodyshop or mechanic to evaluate the car.

The rig is located in El Rito, NM but I could arrange to show it in Santa Fe, Albuquerque or southern Colorado. A visit to El Rito could provide a great opportunity to test the vehicle on and off road.
