We have a 1974 FJ40 that just came in on trade. It is a California native cruiser without rust. It currently has a bikini top, but comes with a hardtop and doors. It has a secondary long range fuel tank installed. The lift looks to be about 3".
The truck is mostly original with the 2F. This truck was the main daily driver for the previous owner and was maintained as such. When we got the truck it ran and drove fine, but we have upgraded/replaced the starter, water pump, and front brakes since we took possession.
The seats, front and rear were restitched. Also the dash and visors were redone to match. The previous owner installed a CD/MP3 Headunit with detachable faceplate plus some speakers in the kick panel area.
The truck seems to be somewhere around 100k in condition - but is unverified since the odometer is not working. We will look into repairing the cluster. Everything feels tight and there are no strange noises from any components.
Paint wise, the shape of the paint is "fair" it was repainted at some point green and that paint is flaking around the hinges and other hardware. It could use touch up, or you could repaint the original color which is red. The engine bay is still the original color. The cruiser itself does not have any rust we could find.
The previous owner stated to us that this truck was originally ordered as a soft top and that the hard top was bought later by him from another rig. The hardtop parts are period correct, but definitely need paint and some minor rust repair in a few spots, these parts are from another rig as the original paint inside of the hardtop is beige. Neither the previous owner or us have had the hardtop installed.
There is also a A/C compressor mounted to the engine, but there is no under dash fan unit. So you have a foundation for adding A/C later if you want.
Overall it is a clean cruiser that is a perfect daily driver with potential for a flawless restoration, as most of everything is there and it good useable condition. We are asking $12,500 http://extremelandcruiser.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=101&products_id=566
We can also build/modify/restore this vehicle to your exact specification.
