I currently have 2.5" lift springs on my FJ40.

Some day I'd like to do a SOA, so I'm doing a bit of planning ahead.

I understand that lift springs are undesirable with SOA. I also read that very flexible springs are desirable with SOA.

So, could a leaf be removed from the lift springs to reduce height and reduce stiffness? If so, which leaf would be the one to remove?

Or would I be better off selling the lift springs and installing OEM style springs?

go oem height unless you are planning on running really big tires.

"OEM height"? You mean OEM springs? I don't see how you could run OEM height without reverse arch springs.

But the question is - can a leaf be removed from lift springs to lower them and will this give more flex, or should they be replaced with OEM replacement springs?

My 40 is on 2.5" springs and SOA. Its pretty soft for the street but seems to flex pretty good. I wouldnt remove any leaves from it though. That would make it softer and would increase body roll and wheel hop. Its running 36's with plenty of room for more tire. Im guessing a 40" would fit with minimal rubbing, but my fenders are cut front and rear.

i would find some OEM Springs, you should be able to trade someone who wants a small lift for their sock ones..

Even with stock springs i still think my truck sits a little to high

spring over is about 5" of lift.. Keep it low!

Yes I meant oem springs and unless you're running very large tires I would replace lift springs with the oem ones. I am running 35's with oem springs and love it! I think lift springs will also be a lot more stiff and not flex as well.
Just my 2cents

years ago when i did my soa , lots of travel was the deal:grinpimp: i removed a leaf from the oem packs, i think it was the third one but not 100%sure then opened the spring clamps lots of articulation and still ran 36's, but on road not nice to drive :steer:
