well, with that many miles on the original clutch ( ?! ) i'd say you've done alright. so it's time for a new clutch and a solid day's work in your garage.

I have access to a great shop on base but not car lift is it at all possible to do without a lift?

yup. some jackstands and a transmission floor-jack will be a must. not a difficult job, just takes some time.
