Backing up in the dark at butcher jones cove 3 at night with tinted windows :meh::doh:

good Lawd!!!! Backing up at what speed or what did you graze? At least you didn't ding the light...which now thinking, i thought you had triple duty led lights back there?

5mph speed, i thought i was just getting more AZ pinstripes when i heard the sounds. I do have the LED lights back there, but i didnt have them plugged in (i use the rear 12v acc socket) because it was spur of the moment

@medtro i dont know if i want to have it fixed tbh. I do have full coverage on this thing, do yall think i should talk to my insurance company about it? I guess I could remove all the goodies i have installed on it...

I would. Isn't it why you bought full coverage?
Just don't use the shop your insurance send you to. Or make sure it's a good shop.

If it bothers you then fix it. It would bug me to see it everyday, but I suspect that won't be cheap. Probably going to want to get some insurance dollars to help pay for it. Get estimates first, then decide.

My thought is if they wrote it off then you could buy it back CHEAP, then use the insurance money to fix it, or just don't fix it.

Did you do the door mirror mod on the same night too?
yep, same time.

here is an example video of how it could happen. Not sure who this is........

The problem with full coverage on a fifteen year old vehicle they will total it quicker then 2007 which would be the same model so same cost to repair. Hard to say this probably close to the total point unless you have declared all the add-ons. Otherwise they will go solely off the VIN. Repairs don't have to add up to the damage for them to total. If they decide to repair it they risk unseen damage being uncovered as well as what it would bring at auction or buy back. On my 99 4Runner other than liability I just have glass and theft. Just a mangled fender might total it. While you could probably get it fixed pretty cheap the adjuster determines the cost. I just hate to see a older vehicle still in great shape have a salvage title for a minor fender bender. Doesn't make sense to carry full coverage if you might not want to use it. Even if you use your insurance and they fix it, Carfax will show it was in a accident. One thing to remember before dropping full coverage you need to be able to afford it being truly totaled and not getting a penny for it. In other words being a throw away.

2x4 and a big hammer...will be good as new! seriously though, that's how I do all my cruiser's body work.

Only use a hammer for finish work and body hammer at that. Port-a-power is what I use. A lot more control and doesn't leave the marks a hammer does. If I am forced to use a hammer I use a block of wood between the body and hammer. Trick is going will be is if that single or double wall in that pillar. Double wall you need a slide hammer. Drilled holes in the past for a slide hammer but if I need to do it again I would get the type that spot welds a pins you use to pull it out.
