Hello,
Thank you very much. My first mod is to get a Bluetooth Audio Adapter connected at the Antenna to be able to listen to Sirius and the 3000 songs on my iPhone 5.

From there, I need to start off taking care of changing the driveline fluids, spark plugs, and I suppose I will do the timing belt and serpentine belt now. While all the belts and the spark plugs are well under the mileage recommendation, the car is 13 years old and everything is still original.

Do you think the TRD Air Filter is a worthwhile mod? I steer clear of Ki&N as most everything I have read seems to indicate that it allows in debris as well as additional airflow.

I would love to change out the Michelin LTX M/S Tires, but they are literally brand new. I do wish the Nakamichi H/U did not read Error Code 3 and worse when usng a Cassette Adapter. there is good amount of noise coming from the Tape Deck. I wish I had a regular cassette just to see if the Tape Deck is functional. The adapter does work, but I have to raise the volume to drown out the noise.

I live a good part of the year about an hour away from The Smoky Mountains National Park and there is some great places to go adjacent from the park.
My head is spinning from all of the aftermarket choices available for the 100 Series.
Cheers,
JJ

Be warned: when you start adding to your car, there is no way back.

So did they rebuild your CVs or replace them? If they replaced them did they give you the old ones?

Dont waste your time or money fooling with the stock Nakamichi head unit. Our 2000 has had it replaced twice, under warranty, the third one is now acting up. Going to replace it with an aftermarket HU, along with the amp and all the speakers at some point.

These rigs are pretty close to perfect, but the stereos are a major screw on Toyota/Lexus's part

To add to my point, my 2001, which has the "better" Mark Levinson system had to have everything replaced as well a little over a year ago, it was worse than the Nakamichi.

I agree to the poster above regarding the system. You can get a decent headunit with built in Bluetooth for 170 or an iPhone 5 app compatible unit for 500

Regarding dealer servicing....I own a few bmws and they all come with free maintenance(oil, brakes, clutch, windshield wipers) I only take my commuter car in to the dealer and my M cars do not go in unless its a warranty issue or large ticket item(brakes, clutch) I have very little faith in stealerships. I guess it doesn't help that I know a master tech at Toyota and BMW and I know how they do things....

Btw what a clean rig!

Indeed. I have decided to just add a Bluetooth Audio Adapter that connects at the Antenna as opposed to sending off the H/U to have it refurbished. The shop that Lexus recommended is charging me $200 for the accessory including installation.

Thank you so much for the kind words. I feel so blessed to have gotten an LX in such good condition with astonishingly low miles. Better still I paid less than what many listings are asking for LC/LX's with well over 2 times the mileage. I just got a quote for replacing the timing belt, serpentine belt, etc from the Toyota dealership I went to and the prices were quite reasonable and even include a loaner car. They want under $500 to do the T-Belt which is almost 2/3rds less than what Lexus wants.

I am taking my LX to Lexus next Wednesday for them to do the Daytime Running Light Recall and Trailer Harness, but that is all I plan on ever having done there.
All the best,
Jack

My gawd! Under 500 from a dealership is probably the best quote I heard yet! Looks like you scored

I bought my y2k over two years ago with 125k miles and a slight seep from the CV's. Replaced the clamps, $5 and thirty minutes later, haven't looked back since...

You went to the dealer for an oil change and they tried to upsell you on repairs, I bet you are the first person this has happened to...

I know. I know. I just was not expecting it the first time after explaining that I had the vehicle extensively inspected. To add insult to injury, a pretty good friend of mine happens to be the Finance Manager there.

To make it clear, I have been planning on doing a pretty large amount of preventive measures. Next week, I have already scheduled to change the driveline fluids, differential fluids, serpentine belt, timing belt, and I might do the spark plugs.

However, to have the F/R CV's recommended to be replaced when the rears are bone dry and the fronts barely seep and it is actually only the front left that does is just confounding. To quote over $1000 and tell me that an alignment is compulsory is worse still.

As I told the Service Advisor, this was my first time going to a Lexus Dealer for service. When I first got there, she already saw that 2 active "Campaigns" had not been completed on the vehicle and that the parts needed to be ordered. Thus, I would be going back quite soon. It just makes more sense to me when wanting to enter into a long term relationship with a customer to ease into it considering I was returning within days as opposed to starting off trying to extract close to $3000 from me.

I completely understand that dealers make their money off used cars and out of warranty repairs. That being said, I live within 60 miles of I think 6 Lexus Dealers so I am not lacking for choices. I also know to ensure the vehicle's resale value down the road, having it in the Lexus system is important.

While youre doing the T belt you definitely should spring for a waterpump too. Since it will all be apart its cheap insurance.

And if it makes you feel any better, I was told by a Toy dealer to replace both front axles as 'they're throwing grease all over'. Except i was just under the truck and even the boots were bone dry. Haven't been back since.
