Got to mc’ ds bout 9.00 some of the fellas were there eating, sat down and a very cold looking dude asked if we could help him out. .He said he had been stuck in the snow since 8.30 the night before brrrrrrrrrr. I did not go so john might fill you in on what happened. Got to trail head round 10:00 ? with 3 40s, 1 80, 1 runner, 1 80 and one totally cool 55 it was snowing a little aired down, off we went. Part way up a one of the 40s over heats, its his fan fuse. Get to the top its freezing, snowing blowing any way I got stuck on the first little hill kept sliding in to a small ditch scratched my fender had to get pulled up. The 55 was not moving just spinning her wheels, tired my chains to small grrrrr. The hill was not very steep at all she would not move, aired down to 10psi and pulled 10 feet to top of hill now it goes just fine down hill! Did I mention I’ve never driven in snow before. By now its snowing hard trail looks steep so down I go slipping, sliding yikes the 80 was sliding around. At the top 4 runner doing good they both turned back crap I’m down a freaking ski slop just one way to go, oh boy lots of hills the 55s slipping all over well there this big bowl if you slide in its 20 feet to the bottom and big tree or bush I would be dead for sure. made it. Dave west on the cb sayng “ your brakes are your enemy “slow down “the trail is heavly rutted at first steratled some and fell in some lots of fun this trail is beautiful 55 did grate no problem. Went to lunch at BK in arrowhead.I was going to head down they were going back up the trail. Went to blue jay then to 18 it snowing very hard very foggy half down road closed back up the hill ended up in a hotel with a fire place way cool came back down back side 18 thru big bear sweet trip

Thanks John the trip was fun! Dave Gastoni maybe Tony I think had a camera, Dave had a 35mm disposable. The guy that came up to us at Mickey D’s was some crazy dude. He was wheeling by him self at 8:30 at night in a blizzard and slid off the mountain with his ass of the 4runner, passenger side downhill. The driver side tire off the ground 1to2 feet with the backend resting against a tin drainage pipe ditch thing for water erosion control. This pipe was the only thing stopping him from rolling 100 feet down the gully. Gastoni tried to winch him out but no way, he was stuck good. Mad man Dave Gastoni convinced this guy the only way out was to pull him out with a small yank. So Dave pulls out a 20ft strap backs up 5 feet and stomps on it. The 4runner moves 1/2ft so Dave being Dave backs up again try it one more time and a another 1/2ft . Now Dave is furious this thing isn’t moving, so he back up 12ft and stands on it as the guy is talking to us asking what to do. We tell him give some gas and he says “like this” looking at us. Dave has reached the end of the 12ft the diver side tire moved forward and up in the air 2 more feet. That guy face and eyes was something to see I thought he crap him self. The 4runner came fling out of that gully. The way out well… John be glad you did not go with us that way. We reached to the bottom and started airing up at 6:00p.m. I’ll Dave West tell that story, he always tells a good story!

That was a fun day.

We should organize a snow run...

If we can get to Castaic, Lake Hughes Road, we can try taking the Old Road up into Angeles. We did that a couple of years ago in the snow. Couldn't even get to Sawmill, the snow was so deep. Good times tho. Ross flooded his dizzy.

I haven't made any plans for Sat A.M yet.;) If you guys come up with a plan, keep in mind I won't see the computer again til 9pm tomorrow, too late to plan. So, best bet is to CALL me.

After my crappy performance with half bald 31" tires yesterday I'm not sure I want to see snow again until I have 35's on.

anyway to get a hi-res image of this pic?
