Well...its 3-years old and I've used it at least a dozen times or more. I'll have to inspect it tomorrow...guess I'm going to learn how to weave it back together

What brand was it?

Here's a decorative yet functional braid I did on my first syn. winch line (Amsteel Blue). I'll never buy Amsteel again. The first time I wound this rope to the drum (2002) it came right out of the swedge. I was not happy to say the least. I bought Master-Pull and turned the AmSteel into a winch line extension. 100 feet of it to be exact.

I've ran Master-Pull since 2002 on three different rigs and have never had a single problem. The first Master-Pull rope has lasted five years and countless high stress pulls on trails like Fordyce and the Rubicon. One stormy night on Fordyce, it pulled four rigs through a steep sluice box using tree savers with snatch blocks to make it around a few turns. All without a single problem.

Awesome pics Dan.
I see the faint outline of a dog in that one pic...Funny how you can see shapes in the snow like that.:p
SOOOOO, were the chains the HOT ITEM to have?
I mean did they make all the difference?
I had never run chains, and was curious.

Was a blast to go up with chains

Althou we didnt make it too far, was great to meet you guys
Was 6 of us and every single one of us used our winch'sHope someone uploads some pic's

Sounds like everyone got a bit of a work out then. That is some physical work IMO.

Camo dog ;)

Matt broke trail; he did a great job especially considering no one had gone before him. To do that you absolutely need chains x 4. I was #2 and could not have gotten where I did without chains x 4. Patrick was #3 with chains up front only; he did great. Jack was #4 without chains and tires at 12psi; he did great. Ali at #5 position had chains on the rear I believe. And James brought up the rear without chains.

We all had to winch at one point or another. A rig with portals, 37's & HD chains would have gotten trail broke to the top yesterday. Or one of those Icelandic rigs ;).

But fun we had!!! We missed ya!!!

Well...stupid me! I had the winch line exiting the drum on top instead of on bottom. That probably contributed to the line's demise. Although there are other small frays in the winch line.

Jereme: The MasterPull looks like the ticket with its outer shield wrap (among other proprietary features). And not having to soak/clean the line would be a huge time saver too!

Ok you guys, we made it EXACTLY 1.02 miles from the staging area where the Subaru Outback was parked :D:lol::crybaby::frown: Are we a bunch of losers or what!!! LOL..

Check out the attached topo fiile.

Yes, snow chains are required on a type of run such as this but really, making a 6,000+ lb rig act like a snowmobile is basically an act in futility. When we were winching ourselves, two snow mobiles just went around us like nobody bidness.

I think using large lug tire chains, logging chains will get you further in before turning around. Any chains that are "comfortable" to use on the hwy are not the ticket for deep sierra cement.

It was good to meet new faces and have a blast. If nothing else, we practiced good winching techniques :D

Pics of my predicament!

Who's rig is that reddish one, with the lights on the rack? I think I recognize it from the parking lot at work.

First name is Patrick...don't know his last name; goes by PATTHO on 'MUD. This was his first run with BBCNN.

Cool pics guys! I don't have any.... well, except the one I took of Dan's truck as "evidence" just in case:D

Hopefully my buddy paul can send me the pictures he took. I know he also has some cool videos too. One of them is a pretty cool on he took standing on my truck while Dan went by with the pedal mashed.:steer:

Chains are a beautiful thing with 3foot of snow, i think the logging type chains would work better than what most of us had thou (normal chains/cables for hwy) but definitely helped
They are also great on when the trails get icy like peavine and such

p.s. I work at IGT if thats the parking lot your thinking of
