Winter tires are a great investment if you get a good season of snow. Stopping distance alone on slippery and icy surfaces is worth every penny.
In addition to a snow scraper/brush, always have a winter safety kit in the truck: blanket; flares; candles; fold-up shovel; tow rope; spare granola/nutrition bars; etc.
It's not always for you.

I always have at least half tank of gas in winter. I been stuck on interstate for hours due to accidents before, and it is much more comfortable for everyone when I can idle the car and turn on heat.

I don't rock crawl but I have armor for the other drivers......

Check out what a nice stout rear bumper did to another car that rear ended me. My truck at the time was an 04 Tacoma, plated the rear frame rails and I did have the hitch installed. The only damage to my truck was some scratches in the powder coat on the bumper. I had the frame checked out on a frame machine after this too.
